EAST STROUDSBURG – A drivers education teacher told a student at the wheel to step on it.  Because of that, an attempted carjacking was foiled.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon on East Broad Street.

Police say the would-be carjacker approached the vehicle, with the instructor and two students, and demanded the car.  He even reached in the car.

The suspect  is described as white, about 50 years old, 5’8”, about 200 pounds, with brown hair, wearing a tan T-shirt and glasses.  He reportedly spoke with a Middle Eastern accent.
