STROUDSBURG - The Monroe County Commissioneers are on record favoring reauthorizing the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Advisory Commission for another ten years.
In a resolution, adopted unanimously, the commissioners note, among other things, that:
- The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is an important national ecological and historical resource;
- The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, as a major tourist attraction, within the greater New York Metropolitan area is an important component of the local economy of Monroe, Pike and Northampton Counties in Pennsylvania and Sussex and Warren Counties in New Jersey;
- The CAC provides an important forum for local residents to be heard on issues affecting the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area insuring a local voice in the management of this critical regional and national resources;
The Monroe County Board of Commissioners therefor urges “the United State Congress to ensure a continued local voice in the management of Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area by reauthorizing the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Citizen |
