Police release description of attempted carjacking suspect |

EAST STROUDSBURG - An attempted carjacking occurred on Wednesday September 10, at approximately 2:20 pm on East Broad Street between Lackawanna Avenue and North Green Street in East Stroudsburg. The targeted victim’s were an East Stroudsburg South drivers education teacher and two student drivers. At 2:20 pm, a male walked in front of the student driver vehicle with his hand up in the air making a stop motion. The suspect then approached one of the students driving the vehicle and stated “give me your car”. The teacher, immediately instructed the student driver to hit the gas. The suspect then reached into a “fannie pack” around his waist with one hand and at the same time attempted to reach into the car towards the steering column. It is unknown what the suspect was reaching for in his “fannie pack”. After fleeing the scene, a red SUV, possibly a Dodge Durango, was seen leaving the vicinity and both students identified the driver of the SUV as being the suspect. The suspect was described as: White/male, approximatly 50 years of age, brown hair, glasses, 5’8”, 200 pounds. last seen wearing a tan colored tee shirt. The suspect was described as having a noticable “Italian” or “Middle Eastern” accent.
