EAST STROUDSBURG - Police were alerted by a witness that two unsupervised toddlers where playing near the roadway at 123 North Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg, Wednesday afternoon. Police responded and found a two year old and a three year old with the witness and no parent or guardian present.

Fifteen minutes later, as efforts were being made to locate the toddlers’ residence and guardian, Courtney Davis, 28, was observed walking to the scene while pushing a shopping cart. Davis stated that he was the father of the two toddlers and had left them alone as they slept approximately 30 minutes ago to purchase pampers.

The children were taken into protective custody and turned over to Children and Youth.

Davis was taken into custody today after an arrest warrant was issued for two counts of endangering the welfare of children. He was arraigned and released on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.
