Feds charge Pike man in plot to kill ex-wife

SCRANTON – A Pike County man was in federal court this week to answer allegations he solicited an undercover agent to kill his former wife.  Angelos Dedes , 49, pled not guilty to charges of solicitation to commit murder, and unlawful use of a communication facility.

Federal investigators allege the motive was almost $100,000 Dedes believed he would have to pay, in child support, for three children with Kelly Dedes.

Authorities began their investigation of Dedes’ intentions several months ago, after Dedes allegedly confided his intentions to a friend.  The unnamed friend contacted Kelly Dedes, who notified police.

An undercover FBI agent posed as the would-be hit man.  Recorded conversations included negotiations over who much the hit would cost.

The undercover agent offered to do the hit for $10,000.  Dedes reportedly counter offered $7,000.

Dedes could face 15 years in prison, if convicted.  He is in the Lackawanna County Prison.
