GREENE TOWNSHIP – A Brooklyn man, visiting the area, was found dead in Upper Lake at Promised Land State Park.  Police identify the victim as Bogdan Banaszek, 56.

Banaszek, staying at the Our Place Cottages on SR390, was found in the water, about 8:15 Saturday morning, by another resident of the cabins, who was walking near the lake. The victim as last seen by friends Thursday evening. 

A canoe, believed used by Banaszek, was found about a quarter mile from where the body was located.

The investigation is ongoing.  An autopsy will be performed.
