State grants for local recycling efforts |

MARSHALLS CREEK - A state grant approved by the Department of Environmental Protection will help Stroud Township in Monroe County with recycling efforts at the local level. Stroud Township will receive $19,800 as part of the state's Recycling Performance Grant Program. The grants are based on the amount of tons recycled and the population of the municipality during calendar year 2006. "This recycling performance grant will both assist the community with recycling efforts and help the local economy," State Rep. John Siptroth, D-Monroe/Pike, said. The Recycling Performance Grant Program provides an incentive to help Pennsylvania communities increase the amount of materials recovered through recycling and promote economic growth in the Commonwealth through job creation and market expansion in the recycling and reuse industries.
